DIY Glow: The 2-Ingredient Olive Oil Sugar Scrub.

The ultimate pantry-to-spa treatment for silky smooth skin.

We’ve all been there—standing in the beauty aisle looking at a $20 jar of body scrub, only to realize the first two ingredients are just sugar and oil. Why pay the markup when you can make a luxurious, organic version in your kitchen for pennies?

This Olive Oil Sugar Scrub is my go-to for "everything shower" nights. It exfoliates dead skin cells while the olive oil sinks deep into the skin to provide a natural, healthy glow.

Why Olive Oil?

While some people prefer coconut oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a powerhouse for skincare. It’s packed with:

  • Vitamins A, D, E, and K: Essential for skin repair.

  • Squalene: An antioxidant that mimics your skin's natural oils.

  • Deep Hydration: It creates a barrier that locks moisture in long after you step out of the shower.

The Simple Recipe

Ingredient

Amount

Purpose

Granulated Sugar

1 Cup

The natural exfoliant

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/2 Cup

The deep moisturizer

Essential Oils (Optional)

10 Drops

For that spa-like scent

Directions

  1. Combine: In a medium bowl, stir the sugar and olive oil together.

  2. Check Consistency: You want a "wet sand" texture. If it's too liquid, add more sugar. If it’s too stiff, add a teaspoon of oil.

  3. Fragrance: Add your essential oils. My favorites are Eucalyptus for a refreshing vibe or Vanilla for something cozy.

  4. Jar it up: Spoon the mixture into a clean mason jar.

Pro-Tips for the Best Results

  • The "Dry" Technique: For extra rough spots like elbows or heels, apply the scrub to dry skin before turning on the shower water.

  • Shelf Life: Since this recipe doesn't use water, it will last about 2 months on your bathroom shelf. Just make sure to use a clean spoon (not your wet hands) to scoop it out to prevent bacterial growth.

  • Safety First: Remember, oil + tile = slippery! Always rinse your shower floor with a little extra soap after using this to prevent any slips.
